Surfing by itself can definitely change your mood for the better, but the Porto surfing in July with it’s multiple colorful sunset sessions made us smile from ear to ear. Some of the surf sessions on the Esmoriz area ended up at the “Arraial da Barrinha” music fest, where we were able to taste some nice food at the local taverns. This gave us enough fuel to keep on moving our bodies on the beats of some really nice Portuguese & worldwide music. A full belly and loads of fun after some awesome idyllic surfing days at the best beach Porto has to offer. What else can you wish for really?
PORTO SURFING IN JULY
Temperatures were around 30ºC, some days even higher. Afterwards, some northern winds appeared, which made our beach routines less comfortable. And most importantly, affected the wave quality and turned the water colder. Fortunately for everyone, that was just for a few days only, and surfing was still possible.
Those days passed and small and perfect waves hit just in front of our Surf house in Espinho. It also created empty lineups at Esmoriz beackbreaks, which made us and our guests really (extremely) happy. Most of them were able to improve their surf related skills, especially those who took our weekly Surfing & Accommodation package, improving on their confidence, technical skills, positioning, reading the waves, etc… One thing they all seem to agree on: our functional training for surfers is crucial for improvement. It allows an easier approach to learn new surfing techniques in a controlled environment, without the many challenges of the ocean. After that, movements became more automatic and surfers were able to move their focus to other points.
When July was almost done we witnessed the premiere of the first surfing event in our beloved Esmoriz area. An under 18 years old all girls national competition. Conditions were clean and fun, in one of our favourite surfing spots in Portugal. Let´s hope that these places can keep on hosting surfing visitors and make sure it does not lose its authenticity.
August is almost here and with it the most crowded season. There will be waves for everyone, so let’s just take the most of each moment! That’s what we are all about
And so concludes our story about “Porto surfing in July“, please put on some sunblock!
